How to change ip using AOL dialer aka proxy

• Step 1

Well this is the basic step where you will have to get yourself an aol email id.AOL email id is decent in its usages though I only use AOL email id for proxy and not for anything else .

• Step 2

Now its a very important part.Well AOL provides a software called AOL desktop which will provide you with the proxy applications needed for the proxy.The AOL dialer accompanied with it will be the key to proxy using AOL

Now the ground work for proxy is done.Lets move on to the main part i.e here I will teach you to configure AOL so that you can use it for changing your IP.

• Step 1

Click on the AOL desktop icon and start the AOL desktop software.Also it is advisable to stop all the downloads during the process of configuring proxy just for comfort ability.

• Step 2

Now moving to the nest step once AOL desktop is launched you will see a AOL browser inside a custom AOL desktop which will contains options like email,IM,web,search bar and such.Make sure You click on the Sign in link as shown in the image below.

• Step 3

Once you click on the sign in option a new interface will open which will be similar to login window of most applications.The screen shot below will explain in detail how to proceed in the sign in process.

• Step 4

Once you completed the necessary procedure in step 3.Click on the connection options.On clicking on the connection options a new window appears with two options namely

• Create dial-up connection
• Advanced broadband settings

• Step 5

Once you click on the advanced settings options.You will be asked whether you want to manually configure the settings and will be asked continue or cancel.You can confidently press the continue button and proceed further.The below is the screen-shot of the thing which will appear before you on click to advanced broadband settings.

• Step 6

On completing the above steps (if followed as i said) then it means you have configured your proxy successfully.Now in order to use the proxy perform the following actions shown below in the screenshot.

Now on connecting to internet using AOL dialer you have got yourself a new proxy ip address by AOL.In order to verify that your proxy has worked properly and has assigned you a new ip you can perform following test.

On connecting through AOL proxy Click here you will see the new ip address and a new location assigned to you.Thus you have configured proxy successfully.

Note:The ip assigned by AOL is a proxy ip address.The problem is if you use AOL browser the HTTP_forwarded_for shows your real ip.So on connecting through proxy make sure you use the browser like fire-fox,opera,IE or as such so that your actual ip stays masked or hided.
